Our Rotary Club is a firm believer in supporting our local Community and the efforts of Rotary International. Over the years, our club has been involved in many charitable and fundraising events. Several events are considered the benchmark of the Peninsula Sunrise Rotary Club, these are:   

Irish Night. Every year in partnership with Kainos, we hold an annual charity fund raiser which includes a live and silent auction. This lively event which includes a traditional dinner meal of corn beef and cabbage, have been a hit with the local area and consistently raises over $25,000 per year to support local endeavors. 

Trivia Bee. Every year we put together a team sponsorship to support reading skills through Friends of Literacy, "Project Read" First place has evaded us in the past, but next year will be different and the competition is always fearful of the Sunrise team.

RYLA.The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards ("RYLA") is a complete scholarship awarded to men and women of high school age who are leaving their junior year and will be next year's senior high class. The intent of the program is to prepare these students for leadership roles in their senior year and beyond. It is the object of RYLA to bring the business, social, professional and educational leaders of the community and the nation together with the young leaders of the future to share with them ideas, techniques, philosophy and inspirational messages.RYLA scholarships are among the thousands of scholarships given each year by Rotarians worldwide. Through our exchange studies and scholarship programs, students can also visit other countries and attend schools and colleges that might not ordinarily be available to them. In 2010, Peninsula Sunrise Rotary sponsored 5 young ladies from Redwood High School.  Despite major personal challenges as well as in school, 3 of the young ladies were able to rise above the issues and enrolled in College.

Holidays. For many people, this time of the year is very difficult and our members reach out to assure families that we care. Some of  the worthwhile efforts include:   

• We contribute to the local Salvation Army Bell Ringing efforts.
• At Christmas and Thanksgiving we prepare food baskets and toys for needy families.
• We sponsor a winter warm coat and clothing drive.
• We lend a helping hand to the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Around the World. Peninsula Sunrise Rotary makes regular contributions to the Rotary International Foundation. We have supported and continue to support many of these program.  Some of our past and current programs include:

• The Books to China project.
• Rotary's Polio Eradication Program.
• Sponsorship of an orphan in Brazil.
• Contribution  to the development of housing in Mexico.
• Development of a vocational school in Ghana. 
• Purchased medical equipment for a children's hospital in Turkey.
